Many of the processes in manufacturing and activities in construction are incredibly noisy and this can damage the human ear iif noise pressures are above certain decibel levels. It is important that the work environment is assessed so that the correct hearing protection can be supplied to individuals to avoid injury. This is the basic case however noise can be generated not only at various pressures but at frequencies that are also injurious therefore a full assessment is required so that proper attenuation can be achieved. In effect the hearing protection is the last line of defence and often other measures such as insulation and baffles can be introduced to reduce the effects of noise.
